Our Story

First encounter

It all started on a dating app on June 2021. I stumbled on Helen's profile and decided to message her first. To my surprise, she responded.

Fast forward to September 2021, after Helen Facetimed with me and my family, my mom decided for the whole family to make a surprise visit to Helen's house in Pflugerville, TX.

After surprising Helen at her doorstep, she invited me in and returned back to her work while I spoke with her dad, Hung Le. Once she got off, we all headed out for dinner at my uncle Phong and aunt Van's house who lives just 10 minutes away from her.

After dinner, we all went back to Helen's house to wait for her mom Cuc Nguyen to return home from work. As soon as we met, she immediately welcomed me with open arms and spent time getting to know each other more. After that night, I can confidently say my first in-person encounter with Helen and her family was a success!

Officially a couple

The next day, word has spread like wildfire among Helen's extended family's upon hearing a guy came to her home with his family. A big feast was held at Helen's house, with me and my family being the special guests. I got to meet her uncles, aunts and her cousins.

After the dinner, it was time for me and my family to head back to Arlington, TX; but not without one more thing to do. I asked Helen to be my girlfriend. Knowing she will be entering in a long distance relationship, Helen agreed; and it was on that day we officially became a couple.

Popping the Question

At the Zilker Botanical Garden in Austin, TX on August 2024 was the day my master plan was set in motion. My friend Pixie, who lives there, was more than happy to be my photographer to capture this special moment. Pixie pretended to be a random stranger offering me and Helen to take some couple photos on our phones.

As Helen was looking through the photos, she noticed her friends photo bombing in the background; one of them held a "Will You Marry Me" signage. That was my cue to get down on my knee, ring in hand, and popped the question. No speech prepared with nervous written all over my face, I delivered my proposal in one shot. Helen immediately said yes. This plan was executed with the help of friends and family as they persevered under the scorching August sun. Helen and I will be entering our next chapter into our life.
